The grind of day to day sometimes gets the best of me. I get so into making it through that I forget to make it fun. I forget to see the little things. I forget to protect my shine. Even in the worst moments, there is sparkle. You just have to use a light to see it.
Turn on your light! I might need to replace my batteries because they seem to be flickering a bit lately. How did this happen?
It’s simple. My days start early. The alarm goes off at 5:30AM. Shower, coffee, morning routine with the little guy, bus stop and work by 7AM. Bam! Hit the ground running. Emails, projects, meetings, planning, lunch at my desk while watching some random personal develop video, repeat till 4:30PM.
Head to the parking lot. Jump in my Jeep, preferably with the top down and the music blaring! Awe…the light is a little brighter.
Drive to after school, pick up the small boy, head to karate practice, head home, make dinner, do homework, read books, bath and bedtime routine with the small boy, pack lunches, work my little nail biz (cause Color Street rocks), get ready for bed, kiss hubby and repeat.
The day to day of a working mom wears you down. It extinguishes your flame. We have to look for the little things. As small as they are, the little things are what make you sparkle. My favorite mini mouse Lularoe dress (Lularoe is a discussion for another day.) The top down in my jeep. The sweet nighttime snuggle with the little guy. My husband saying he is proud of me. My glitter dipped nails. Lots of little things that get lost when we don’t turn on our lights.
Come on ladies, look for those moments. Those reminders that life is good. Let the glitter back in, even if it is just in your nails. (Insert shameless Color Street plug.) Don’t let the busy that life throws your way, let you forget to sparkle.
Now, it’s time to recharge my batteries. Let’s chat again soon. Until then, in the midst of chaos, sparkle. Don’t let life dull your shine.
Much Love,
The Manicured Mom

It wasn’t too long ago that I was in the hectic go round of working everyday. You are so right to look for those little things along the way throughout your day. I’m not a big glitter gal; but, I appreciate your Sparkle. It’s inspiring!

Being a full time working mom is tiring. We are related and crazy runs in our genes. Haha. I recently decided that it would be a great idea to go back to college for my Master’s. WHAT WAS I THINKING.. I MUST BE CRAZY. It is definitely easy now to feel stressed out all the time and have no patience with the kids. One thing that helps me is to make sure I get in some exercise by myself. It gives me time to reflect on just how lucky I am in life…Family is good. God is great and life is a gift.
Thank you so much for following along with me as a blog through life. I am finding this process to be so incredibly healing and stress relieving. That is so awesome that you are getting your masters, what an amazing thing for your kids to see. I wish you the best with it and will be praying for sanity through the chaos. And crazy must run in the genes.
